The estate belonged to a gentleman who was a collector of the highest order. It didn't matter the sport or the event; if it was near NYC, he was there. He has Broadway Playbills (signed), US Open Tennis programs (signed), Track meets at the O...ld Garden (scored and signed), Yankee stuff more than Mets, NY Football stuff, NY Rangers stuff--all will be shown here eventually. Make a request, maybe I can search and see what is here. Anyway, most of these items were obtained in the 70's and 80's (some earlier, clearly), but not much from the 90's and after. The stuff sat untouched, unopened, and in the same mint condition he put it away in--albums, sleeves, binders, etc. The condition is the most astonishing thing to me--that it's been literally untouched for 30-40 years (or more)!
Because of the size and extent of his collection, nothing is professionally authenticated but I will personally refund anything (Yes, ANY ITEM IN THIS LOT) that comes back as not authentic by PSA/DNA, including refunding your PSA/DNA fees. I feel that confident in this person's collection.
Starting to get into some of the PLAYBILLS he had signed from Broadway. As I said, the collector was a NYC person, and as we've come to learn a HUGE PATRON of the ARTS! The access he had to these plays was amazing--singed by Directors, Theater owner-operators, entire casts (with the occasional personalization)/. I mean, this collection is JAW-DROPPING! Not only the quantity AND the quality, but also the efforts he took to preserve the PLAY BILLS themselves. They have been meticulously maintained and untouched since the day he brought them home! Programs from over 20-30 years ago are essentially only touched by one person, and then stored out of sunlight and any hazardous elements. Even these unsigned PLAYBILLS are unbelievable. Anyway, my descriptions will be as good as I can. If you need more pics, please ask. If you are looking for a particular play or signature, please contact me so I can look and see if I can list it soon. I have HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of these PLAYBILLS!
Photo signed by Waite Hoyt, and he added 1928 as an inscription. In that year not only did he win 23 for the Yankees, he led the league with 8 saves! Even more incredibly, he only struck out 67 batters in 273 Innings! Is that even possible?Photo and signature are un unbelievable condition! Not seen or touched for at least 30 years! Looks like it was signed yesterday!
