This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri with long point, Edo period ca 1750 era made old family blade. The blade is in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. Forging grain is&nbs...p;itame-hada, shows corse forgings but no openings. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard, no dent, no bend, no lacquer loss and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. It measures 27+1/2" tip to the guard, 26+5/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch, 2" long point and 40+1/4" in mountings.
