☆Kokeshi dolls were used as toys for children in the Tohoku region around 1850. The reason why kokeshi dolls were painted red was that red meant to protect children from diseases such as smallpox. Kokeshi dolls were also sold as souvenirs for hot spring cure. Toji is an event for farmers ...to go to a hot spring to rest and refresh themselves. Since then, craftsmen's technique of coloring has improved, and now it is loved by many people as an ornamental. Even today, kokeshi festivals are held in Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima in the Tohoku region. Every year in Miyagi, the Prime Minister's Award is given to outstanding craftsmen. In Japan, there are kokeshi craftsmen with excellent skills and expression. Thank you for watching. We guarantee 100% authenticity of the products we sell. Please don’t worry and choose the product.
