This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Akita ju Ka (Akira) saku 秋田住果作", dated "Showa Jugo-nen Hachi-gatsu hi (a day, August, 1939) 昭和十五年八月日", shinogi-zukuri shape, before WWll time period made blade. Ka`s real name is Shibata Masataro, was born in 1884 in Akita prefecture, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gendai smith, listed in John ...Slough's book page 36 and rated 1.5 million yen. The blade is in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is leather covered metal scabbard, leather cover is missing top area, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with silver family mon, tsuka-ito wrapping shows aged stain but no cut, no loose and in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 27 stamped. It came with blue.brown lieutenant grad sword tassel, no cut abd in good condition. Habaki is silver foiled habak in good cobdition. It measures 26+1/4" tip to the guard, 25+1/2" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 40" in mountings. Shipping is $25 priority in U.S. Payment dues within 3 days auction end.
