We are offering a rare early 19th century blue decorated stoneware jug with a wonderful ovoid shape. Great hand slip broad decoration of leaves going all the way around the top of the jug. Most likely from the Northeastern United States - we are not experts and we have no idea as to origin, maker, etc. - would love to hear ideas from those more knowledgeable, as always! Measures approximately 12 1/2" tall x 8" across at the widest point - probably 1 gallon capacity.&n...bsp; In very good overall condition. Normal light wear commensurate with age and usage. No cracks or major chips, no repairs or alterations. 1/4" x 1" shallow area of surface loss as shown in photo #10. There are a few minor scattered spots of roughness and glaze pops to the body and inside the lip in the making, as well as a couple of firing lines where the handle was applied.
