Lie Nielsen Iron(new) retrofitted Stanley NO 3 smooth bottom Plane Tool - Tuned and ready to go to bench. Depth adjustment and lateral adjustment works as intended. I am also including the original Stanley No 3 cutter. There are no stuck screw. Plane can be disassembled and assembled easily. As you see in the pictures, even sharpening to 1200 grit gives very fine thin shavings. Think about sharpening it to 16000 or 36000 grit with good technique.Work done to the plane:1) Cleaned the pl...ane.
2) Filed the mouth to accept Lie nielsen's No 3 thicker iron. The mouth is tight for thin shavings.
3) flattened the sole.
4) sanded sides ro remove rust.
5) prepared chip breaker to remove any gap between plane iron and chip breaker.
6) Flattened the back of plane iron, created 25 degree bevel on plane iron, hand honed at 30 degrees on 1200 grit diamond stone and stropped.
7) flattened the frog.
8) prepared the lever cap
9) repaired the rear tote.The only issue(easthetic) with this plane is the rear tote. I used the wood at my hand(birds eye maple) to repair the tote. I know it is not the ideal because of lighter color compared to the original wood. To match the colors, I had to use stain to blend the colors but can be observed. It cannot be felt easily with hands.Bid with confidence. I will make sure it would be zero cost to you in terms of returns and refunds if you do not like this plane.Condition is Used.
