Up for auction is a stunning hand painted, egg-shaped box by iconic French porcelain house SEVERES for Chateau des Tuileries. The Severes mark with interlaced L's with an S place the creation during the later part of the 19th century. The cobalt blue with gold gilt exterior is a beautiful contrast to the hand painted scene of a woman with two cherubs, signed "Geo Rochet". The inside is painted with flowers top and bottom. The clasp and edging look to be brass, there a...re a few spots of patina on the metal. The hinge and clasp are strong.
Approximate measurements:7" wide4 3/4" deep4 1/2" tall
