An excellent condition and very scarce example of a 2 piece post Civil War Georgia state seal button. Albert's GA-4-TY. Post Civil War 2 piece Georgia buttons are actually much rarer than their wartime counterparts. The dies seem to be different than any wartime face pictured in Alberts' or Tice's book. It is likely they were only produced for a very short time before Georgia staff buttons were introduced. Backmark reads "WATERBURY BUTTON CO. (WATERBURY CO...N.)". Most of the original gilded finish remains. Button Measures 22.92mm. See photos for condition details.
