Native Silver with CalciteBatopilas, Andres del Rio District, Batopilas Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico4cm x 1.8cm x 1.6cm
Description/Interesting Notes: An incredible example of native silver from this classic Mexican locale!!! This specimen consists of an unusually robust spinel-twin crystal of native silver prominently perched atop a crystalline calcite matrix in association with some additional smaller native silver crystals!!!... The main silver crystal measures approx. 3cm and is almost 1cm wide!!! The native silver crystals are sharp, brilliant, and exhibit an attractive multitoned patina!!! Upon close study there is a dark gray cubo-octahedral crystal set on the native silver that is actually a quite well defined and complete galena crystal (not acanthite!)!!! A magnificent example of this prized species from Mexico!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
