Stickley Sign The Ultimate Holiday Present for the Stickley Collector! The sign that was on the building that was Gustav Stickley’s factory at 2904 Burnet Avenue in Eastwood, NY and was still on the building when it was sold by Louise Stickley, the widow of Leopold. (L&JG Stickley) I bought the... sign at Dick Allen’s auction when the contents of the factory were disposed of in the late 1960s. At the same time I bought the paper business records of Gustav Stickley as well the glass photographic negatives used for The Craftsman catalogs—all of these historic items eventually found their way into the Winterthur Museum in Delaware to benefit research. This sign has been hanging in my shop “The Craftsman” for the past forty years here in Eastwood, NY, just a few blocks from Gustav Stickley’s original factory. At 73, I am still making “The Craftsman Furniture Polish” and “The Westport Chair” as well as making custom furniture and designing interiors. I would like someone to own this sign who truly understands the Walt Whitman quote that’s on the opening page of my website: “Who touches this touches a man.” (From The Craftsman magazine, 1906.)
