Blade has original factory finish and blade edge finish - no nicks, pitting or defects anywhere. Pitina on blade is consistent with age. It still very sharp. The complete 8 ring leather handle shows nicely with no defects--no missing leather....
This leather and metal point guard sheath was the first type M6 produced by Vitner Bros for early WWII U.S. G.I issue and is considered rare today. There are not rips or tears in the leather. It still has the original metal belt hook secured to the leather sheath. All heavy duty stitching is still very tight and firmly in place.
Metal guard on blade is tight - no wiggle or movement. It is marked with "US M3 Utica"
The correct Army Ordnance Corps proof mark is clearly visible on top of knife pommel
This blade and sheath have been together since the end of WWII.
One dangerous looking trench and fighting knife !
