Very rare and original, 1880’s Pair of Native American Central Plains / Cheyenne Indian Bead Decorated, Child’s Hide Moccasins.
This outstanding Pair of late 19th century Cheyenne Moccasins each measure approx. 6 1/2" long at their stiff hide / parfleche soles. The decoration is simple but beautiful with moose tracks around the border using chalk white, pea green and dark blue colored beads and cross designs on the vamps using colors of dark green, greasy... yellow, chalk white and red white-heart. These wonderful Cheyenne Indian Moccasins are sinew sewn and feature short, contiguous cuffs and applied tongues.
These Cheyenne Moccasins were made for an older child (not a baby or toddler).
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Cheyenne Moccasins crafted in the fourth quarter of the 19th century. The Moccasins come with our “no questions asked” return privilege and our lifetime guarantee of authenticity. This very rare and original, pair of 1880’s Cheyenne Indian Bead Decorated Child’s Moccasins display nicely but do have damage. The hide elements are very stiff. The left hand Moccasin has a split in the hide running from the inside attachment of the tongue almost to the sole and some minimal bead loss. The left hand Moccasin has splits to the hide from both sides of the tongue attachment to the sole and along the attachment of the upper to the sole on the back of the inside surface. Both Moccasins have old thread repairs at the tongue attachment lines.
