The ...blade represents the opportunity to own a historic Shintowakizashi, ca. 1600s, from the well-known swordsmith Bungo Saneyuki. The blade and the mountings are in Near MINT condition. The swordhas a blade length of 18 inches (46 cm). The hada is a very well-implementedand visible wood-grain itame hadathat mixes with a burl mokume hada. The hamon is a well-implemented Soshu-stylechu-suguha hamon. The hamon ispresent the length of the blade through the kissaki ending in a chu-maru boshi. There are activitieslike nie hotsure and inazuma in and along the hamon.The tang is signed BungoJu Fujiwara Saneyuki. Saneyuki wasa swordsmith working from Bungo province in the 1600s. Swords from Bungo wereknown for being strong and good for combat. They were sought out for sharpness.The blade comes in shirasaya mountings. They are in Near MINT condition. The blade is in Near MINT condition. There are no nicks, little to no rust, andfew scratches. There is one spot showing a small ripple of a partial fukureunderneath. There do not appear to be any major flaws like hagire.Given the condition, the craftsmanship, and history of the sword, I think this piece would be an excellent addition fora collector of WW2 militaria or Japanese swords.Terms and additional items: This item is original and not aknockoff or fake.
