The blad...e represents the opportunity to own a historic Shintowakizashi, ca. 1600s, from the well-known EchizenSeki school. The blade andthe mountings are in Near MINTcondition. The sword has a blade length of 19 inches (48 cm). The bladefeatures a well-grained itame hadathat mixes with a straighter masame hada along the edge. The hamon is a Mino-stylechoji gunome of overlapping peaks.The hamon is present the length of the blade through the kissaki where it endsin a maru boshi. There are activitieslike sunagashi, inazuma, and kinsuji in and along the hamon.The tang is mumei, or unsigned, and ubu, or unshortened.Based on the length and shape, the sword looks to date to ca. 1600s. Based onthe workmanship, the sword looks to have come from a Shinto school such as Echizen Seki school.The blade comes in shirasaya mountings. They are in Near MINT condition. The blade is in Near MINT condition. There are no nicks, little to no rust, andfew scratches. There do not appear to be any major flaws like hagire.Given the condition, the craftsmanship, and history of the sword, I think this piece would be an excellent addition fora collector of WW2 militaria or Japanese swords.Terms and additional items: This item is original and not aknockoff or fake.
