The blade and the mountings are inNear MINT condition. Thesword has a blade length of 27.5 inches (70cm). The sword has bo-hi, or fullers, running the length ofthe blade on both sides. The sword shows a tight itame hada. There is no hamon and the blade looks to be of arsenalmanufacture. The blade has a rare makers stamp that says Hironao. The mountings are Russo-Japanese period Kyu Gunto. The mountings are in Near MINT condition. The tsukais saber-shaped with all of the wire wraps present. The tsuka features afamily mon of ume, or plumblossom, used by clans such as the Maeda.Thesaya (scabbard) is plated metal. The saya shows a couple very small dents and afew small areas of scattered rust and scratches, retaining 92-96% original finish. There is a locking mechanism present. Theblade is in Near MINT condition.There is one very small micro nick, little to no rust, and very few scratchesalong the blade. There are no major flaws like hagire.Given its condition, history, and provenance, I think this piece would bean excellent addition for a collector of WW2 militaria or Japanese swords.Terms andadditional items: This item is original and not a knockoff or fake.
