This is a Japanese WWll Naval officer`s sword in kaigunto mountings. The blade is signed "Noshu Ishihara Kanetada 濃州石原兼忠" with 昭 inspection stamp, shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade. Kanetada lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll and after the war as a Gendai smith. The blade is traditional hand forged, in original war time polish, no rust, no st...ain and in excellent condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is ray-skin covered wood scabbard, no tear, no dent, no crack, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping no cut, no loose also in good condition. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 五五 marked. It measures 26+1/2" tip to the guard, 25+5/8" cutting edge, 1+1/4" width, 7.5 mm thickness at the notch and 38" in mountings.
