Howdy!
Here you have a chance for a patch from the US Army 45th Infantry Division. This was formed before WW2 and had a swastika as part of the original design in reflection of the Native American heritage of the region where it drew troops. As WW2 dawned, the Thunderbird was instead chosen to replace it and the 45th trained to fight in the European Theater. Part of the forces taking Sicily and Salerno, the 45th took very heavy casualties defeating the Nazis (many a ...45th mother cursed Gen Clark to their dying days for dilly-dallying under Axis artillery, causing the deaths of their sons instead of moving ahead and clearing the enemy forces), garnering over 20, 000 casualties and ten Medals of Honor. In view of the atrocities found when they liberated Dachau, some suspected them of murdering surrendering German troops. In 1951 the 45th then went to Korea where it took part in that conflict as well. In 1968 the 45th went away as part of the reorganizations taking place.
This came as part of a collection who saved some of them loosely. Some may have a little glue on the back or have been worn and may have threads remaining. (To me stitching remnants add character and show authenticity). Please see pictures as I am not an expert in all areas!
Please look at the pics as they make the best description, and ask questions.
