This vintage Chinese qipao cheongsam blue silk damask floral brocade banner dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of an iridescent royal blue silk damask weave floral vine leaf jewel tone woven pattern brocade fabric and a blue, white silk trim edging. Manchu women wore a one-piece dres...s which were called "qipao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress for Chinese women. This beautiful brocade Chinese cheongsam dress has a form fitting style, is a long below the knee length, with a stiffened mandarin collar, long full sleeves, side slit skirt vents, with snaps, blue white decorative spiral scrolling trim toggles, zipper closures along the side and is fully lined in a bright royal blue color silk fabric. The dress measures 42 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 36 inch waist, 42 inch hips, 19 inch long sleeves, a 15 inch back and 14 inch neck. It is in good condition, with only two areas of slight fade discoloration on the sleeve and side skirt (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
