Antique Chinese Black Silk Damask Ribbon Peony Peacock Butterfly Trim Vest Robe
This antique Chinese black silk damask ribbon peony peacock butterfly trim vest robe dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk cotton pique ribbed textured fabric, with a colorful silk damask weave peony, peacock butterfly woven pattern ribbon trim edging. The peacock is a symbol of beauty and dignity and the peony flower, butterfly are symbols of love. This sleeveless ...vest style robe is a long mid length, loose fitting, with side knotted button toggle closures and is fully lined in a black polished cotton fabric with 2 coins which appear to be pennies hand sewn inside the front corner (see close-up). The vest measures 28 inches long, with a 40 inch chest and 15 inch back. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of Chinese wearable art!
