Offered for your consideration this evening is a beautiful vintage Montblanc pen from the 1940sM O N T B L A N C No. 222Jet BlackGold Filled trimc. 1940sHistoryThis is the 224 model, which is a push-button filler rather than a piston filler. These pens are usually known with piston filling system and were available both in Denmark and Germany. Cap with the Montblanc trademark MontM-Blanclogo , twin cap bands and button cap top with inset white snowflake logo.The cap... has a twin bands at the cap lip like all 24x series pens and later, beautiful Art deco spoon-type clip. The cap has is slightly streamlined, with a button cap top inlaid a white Montblanc snowflake logo. Button filling mechanism (this model was also available in the piston filler version, model no. 24x)Item condition:Overall, the pen’s in good condition for its age: just some minor, high-point wear to the gold filled clip resulting from normal use (please see photos) The pen may have been serviced in the 1940s/50s and some elements may have However, the pen still looks very good indeed and could make a cool daily user: the inlaid Montblanc snowflake logo looks great; nice high gloss surface and great crisp and fully readable imprints. All in all, a well-kept and still very presentable pen that the previous owner liked so much, they thought it was worth saving and repairing as required.Imprints on the cap:Mont^^-BlancThe filling system:Patented Montblanc button filler.To fill, simply unscrew the Blind Cap and place the nib in ink so that the lower part of the section is also immersed. Press the button 2-3 times. Remove the nib from ink bottle. Wipe the pen point and section with paper towel. Replace the blind cap by screwing it back on to the barrel.All done. Original Montblanc No. 2 nib – Fine (F) grade, semi-flex nib that writes with Fine to Medium line variation (F – M) and nice ink shading. The nib appears to have been adjusted in the past as shown but still writes well.
