Original Description:
Great French Empire fire gilt bronze portico mantel clock @ 1860.  This large impressive clock came out of an estate recently, where it was on the mantel running.  The case is fire gilded solid bronze, with the fire gilding being in very good original condition, with some dirt and minor wear to the finish as shown in the photos.  Please see the many photos for the complete description.  Case has great proportions and excellent detail and really has a great look.&nbs...p; Excellent original pendulum.  The original porcelain dial is excellent with no damage.  Great original hands.  The 8 day time and strike movement is marked Japy Freres.  It is complete and intact with good mainsprings, and runs and strikes nicely, but has not been serviced recently, and should be serviced to be a reliable running clock.  Sold without any warranty.  Great original silvered bell.  With winding key.  Dimensions are:  20" tall x 9 3/4" wide x 5 1/2" deep, and weighs 16 pounds.  No reserve.  UPS ground shipping in the continental USA will be $40.00.
