Antique Chinese Qing Mandarin Silk Embroidered Badge Or Square
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:136003 | Region of Origin: China |
This textile is meant to represent a civil servant of the 4th rank. The bird is a goose and it's directionality suggests it was made for the wife of an official. This square appears to be from the late Qing or perhaps later. The fabric has a delicate, light feel even though it is heavily embroidered. The workmanship includes several different interesting stitches as well as metallic gold... couching. While the surface is in good condition the backing has some stains. The piece measures 11.5" x 11". I HOPE THE PHOTO GIVES YOU A GOOD LOOK AT THE ITEM YOU ARE GOING TO BID ON.
