Please read all of the description, as well as printing it off!Judge Donald Carpenter was the ...son of Delph Carpenter.
Delph was a lawyer in Colorado that specialized in water law. He along with Herbert Hoover workedto create the Western Interstate Water Compact. This compact is what rules the states from Kansas to the coast! This compact, and many subsequent ones got the federal government out of the business of water law.
His son, Donald, not only was a lawyer. He was the chief justice for the 19th Judicial District of Colorado (Weld County). He also was the Water Court Judge for the South Platte River Basin.I tell you all of that, so as to explain the history of these books. In May of 1959, Donald acquired these 11 books. He sent a letter to President Hoover to request them be autographed. There is a personal letter from Hoover (autographed) saying he would sign the books.A letter from Hoover's secretary stating that the books were signed and in the mail.A letter (copy) from Carpenter to Hoover thanking him for doing these.
This series of books was of great pride to Judge Carpenter. They were a cherished possession. Now, they along with the three letters are going to the highest bidder!
