A very good example of this rare and sort after Stereo release of The Beatles first album 'Please Please Me'.
One of only 900 copies in existence with the very first stampers G1/R1.
The disc is visually in VG condition with plenty evidence of play. Surface marks and scuffs are generally light with the occasional feelable scratch (not deep). It still retains a lovely sheen and importantly, no groove wear! The disc sits flat on the turntable. The labels have no writing or stickers,... light tarnishing from handling around the spindle hole.
It plays close to VG+ with suprisingly strong clarity which knocks up the hairs the back of your neck!! There is light surface noise, and some scratches are audible, mainly during a song’s intro and ending, however this does not overpower the music and remains a enjoyable and rewarding listen. Absolutely no distortion from needle wear!!
The one flaw which needs highlighting is a series of clicks between 'Boys' and 'Tell Me Why' on side one. These are significant but only last for a couple of revolutions in each track.
The sleeve is a lovely VG+. The heavy card sleeve has no splits, and edge wear is limited to the corners. The spine is especially excellent. The laminate retains a lovely sheen with only slight milking. Laminate lift is limited to the edges where creasing is evident but not major. It has a pin hole top left and I noted a little writing impression top right, only noticible under angled light.
The rear card is clean with little staining which is light and not distracting. The flip backs are intact apart from some of the edges/corners that have been chewed a little.
The original poly lined inner is excellent with mild creasing, no splits or glue stains
Overall this is an opportunity to aquire a better than average copy of this very special album that will not disappoint.
Gradings are Goldmine standard and I consider the photos to be a good representation of the visual condition.
