I am selling this old historic document for a widow, whose late husband was a collector friend of mine. I believe he bought several documents in the mid-1990s. I’ll do my best to describe the item but ask if you have questions. I usually deal with old postcards and photos.
Document reads, in part: "Whereas Thomas Westbrook of Sangamo [sic] County Illinois, has deposited in the General Land Office of the United States a certificate of the Register ...of the Land Office at Springfield... for the sale of the Public Lands for the West half of the Southeast quarter of Section Three in Township Fourteen north of Range Four west, in the District of Lands subject to sale at Springfield Illinois con- taining Eighty acres..."Continuing on: "... Given under my hand, at the City of Washington, the first of December in the Year of our Lord, One thousand, eight hundred and thirty and of the Independence of the United States the fifty fifth By the President, Andrew Jackson; Elijah Hayward, Commissioner of the General Land Office."
