Selling is a 7 1/2" X 9 7/8" VintageOriginal glossy photo with borders of JOHN HODIAK from the 1930's.Pittsburgh-born JOHN HODIAK was one of severalup-and-coming male talents who managed to take advantage of the dearth ofWWII-era superstars who were off serving their country. Hodiak had his first theatrical experience atage 11, acting in Ukrainian and Russian plays at the Ukrainian Catholic Church. JOHN HODIAK arrived in Hollywood in 1942 and signed a motion picture... contractwith MGM. He refused to change his name, saying, "I like my name. Itsounds like I look."JOHN HODIAK was cast in a few small parts at MGM. He then caught the eye of director Alfred Hitchcock and, on loan-out to20th Century Fox, emerged as a major movie star in "Lifeboat" (1944) opposite Tallulah Bankhead. More big rolesfollowed, notably that of Maj. Joppolo in "A Bell For Adano" (1945) opposite Gene Tierney.JOHN HODIAK was married to actress ANNE BAXTER(married July 7, 1946) but divorced on January 27, 1953. JOHN HODIAKS's early death at age 41 in 1955, however, robbed Hollywood of a strong player and promising character star. Photo is in Very Good Condition with minimal handling wear.
