This listing is for an antique mid 19th Centurystoneware jar or humidor in the Apostlespattern molded in 8 high relief panelswith brown dip Rockingham glazeon the lid and upper half of the body.
It has an indecipherable two or three lineimpressed pottery mark.No clue if I took the mark photo upside-down.This piece is much more "rustic" than the morecommon English (Meigh) versions of this pattern(of superior fit and finish) that it copied.(I added a photo of some of... Am. Co's marks).
I can find no similar jar in either Americanor English pottery references.Pitchers are what you mostly find.
I believe this jar to be from the 1840s, during the period when the pottery workswas run by the Henderson brothers.
There is a pitcher of the same patternin the Clement Collection.
Very heavy, HARD stoneware.Chips show gray fully vitrified material(not "soft" British material)Weighs about 4.25 Lbs!
5th photo shows heavily glazed-over areawhere base is attached below body. Not damage - as-made blem.
Other photos show miscellaneousother chips and small losses.
