Offered in this sale is an antique German porcelain figure of a fox playing a violin which I believe was made by one of the Dresden area porcelain factories. These "Monkey Band" - "Animal Band" figures were first produced by Meissen and later due to their popularity inspired a number of the other porcelain factories in the area... to create their own versions of which this is one. I believe this dates to the later 1800s. It is marked on the underside of the base with a crossed scissors or swords mark. It measures roughly 6" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter across the base. The condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration of any kind. I do have several other "animal band" figures from the same manufacturer that I will be posting for sale separately on Ebay today and tomorrow. These come from a local Greenwich, Ct estate collection.
