Offered in this sale is one of four Meissen porcelain figures that come fresh to the market from a private local estate collection (see 10th image). I plan to post each of these for sale individually on Ebay today and tomorrow. If you are interested in more than one item I do o...ffer combined shipping which save on postage. Offered in this sale is the largest piece in the group. It is a figure of a black man - perhaps Ottoman or Turk -with flowing robes in a reclining like position with a cockatoo bird - wings outstretched - on his right forearm. It measures 8 1/2" tall x 9" long. This is one of the nicest pieces of Meissen I have had the pleasure to offer for sale on Ebay. I do not know who the original modeler was who designed this figure. If I had to guess I would say J.F. Eberlein although it could be Kaendler or Reinicke. It is marked on the underside of the base with a blue crossed swords mark and is also impressed A 1068 as well as 152V. It also has a small painted puce decorators mark on the underside of the base. I have not been able to find another example of this model, however, all of the Ottoman - African - Middle Eastern and Asian based themed pieces tend to be much more scarce and harder to find. The condition of this piece is very good. The only flaw I can find is an old restoration to the end of the small sword on the back side which you can see if you look closely at the 9th image. Remarkably, all of the delicate fingers of the man as well as the wings of the bird are free of any damage or restoration. Other than the restoration on the end of the sword, there are no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines. This is a rare, investment quality piece of Meissen. Please be sure to enlarge and zoom each image for a close up view of the detail and the condition and do not hesitate to send me a message if you have questions or would like additional images. I always guarantee everything that I sell to be as described. This piece is being sold without a reserve as long as there is an opening bid. The shipping cost within the United States is $12.00 (I will double box for secure shipping)The last three images illustrate just a few of the many other items I have or will be posting separately for sale on Ebay from several different estate collections including a rare early 1970's Hyacinth Kuller limited edition lithograph hand colored with original frame and latest updated Certificate of Authenticity signed by artist in 2015. I am also continuing to post an eclectic mix of antique to contemporary china glass and accessories including flow blue china, Sunderland lusterware, quite a few ADDITIONAL scarce/rare pieces from a collection of British Royal Commemorative china, Rosenthal porcelain and an assorted lot of Victorian to mid century jewelry, a small collection of 19th and early 20th century Chinese and Japanese porcelain and ceramics, Scandinavian art glass, antique photo album and photographs, Nippon, old U.S. and World Stamps, a number of piece of vintage Chinese Cultural Revolution memorabilia, Soviet Russian and Chinese Cultural Revolution pins and caps, American and Continental art pottery as well as an eclectic mix of other 18th - 20th century American, English, Continental and Chinese ceramics, porcelain, glass and accessories.
