THE FRONT ENGRAVING IS LATER - NOT THE ORIGINAL FROM THE BOOK - (the engraving of William Bligh in the book was from the 1801 painting of him by John Chapman.) Written on the title page "A Perfect Copy". 7 engraved plates, charts and plans (comprising: 1 plate of a breadfruit, 2 folding plans, 4 charts) Amazing book "During the voyage of HMS Bounty from Tahiti to bring the breadfruit plant to the West Indies, Fletcher Christian led what became the most infamous mutiny in seafaring history. Perhaps better known today through Hollywood depictions, the story of the events surrounding the date of 28 April 1789 is told here by William Bligh (1754-1817), the ship's commander."
