Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:121623 |
Epitomizing midcentury modern design at its pinnacle, this Carl Aubock II (1900-1957) pattern continues to charm, over sixty years after... its introduction in 1956. Mr. Aubock passed the following year; his work continues to increase in its desirability to collectors. The award-winning Maestro pattern is found in the permanent collections of many museums worldwide.
Trained as a sculptor and engraver in his father's workshop, Carl Aubock II moved to Germany in 1919 to study at the Bauhaus. He left Germany in 1921 and returned to his family atelier in Vienna to carry on the work of Werkstatte Carl Aubock, now operated by his descendants. Carl Aubock II is known as the face of Austrian Modernism. See link below for more of Aubocks' designs.
These beautiful 18/8 stainless steel pieces were handforged, brushed and polished at Aubock Studio in Vienna. The Maestro pattern ceased production in the 1970's.
