This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Emura saku 江村作", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll period ca.1940 era made blade. Emura was the director of Okayama Prison and utilized prison labor to help him produce swords for the war effort, listed in John Slough`s book page 28. The blade is traditional hand forged, in old polish, no rust, no stain and in good condition. &n...bsp; The temper line is outstanding gunome-choji temper pattern and has deep temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada no opening, no blister and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is glossy lacquered heavy metal scabbard, shows tiny scratches but but no dents, no crack, no bend and in excellent condition. The handle is tight fit with silver family mon, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba, seppas, lock pin and fuchi are matched number 7 stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It came with blue/brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, no cut, no fade and in mint condition. It measures 27+1/4" tip to the guard, 26+1/2" cutting edge, 1+1/4" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 40" in mountings. Shipping is $25 priority in U.S. Payment due with in 3 days auction end.
