This piece, as well as others we are offering in the coming weeks is from the estate of a professor who lived in Asia in the 1970s. He collected many antiques and works of art.
We are pleased to offer this antique Canton silk embroidered double-sided shawl. This beautiful shawl is completely hand embroidered with flowers, people and pagodas, in vibrant colors on a lovely pale blue background. Ther...e are a couple of small areas, with age discoloration (see photos), but otherwise this piece is in excellent antique condition. It has 16” macrame fringe, and the main body of the shawl measures 60” square.
