ITEM DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a circa 1885 French full-sized table lamp comprising a Sevres-style cylindrical vase with hand-painted decoration and brass/bronze mounts. Originally this would have been a fluid lamp that was converted, early on, into an electric lamp. While the vase features a painting of a Neoclassical maiden and child, the metal mounts reflect the East Asian (Chinese/Japanese) influences of the Aesthetic Movement that was so popular in the late nineteenth centu...ry. This lamp, excluding the shade, measures nearly 30 inches tall and can be extended several inches more due to the adjustable fittings at the top. The modern cloth shade is just for display and will not be included in the auction.
CONDITION: Very good overall condition, with no breaks or repairs noted. Has been converted to electricity, as stated above. Worked nicely when tested but being sold as-is. Please review the photos carefully before bidding as they depict the actual item.
