This antique Chinese apricot yellow silk colorful embroidered peony long robe surcoat dates from the 1920s. It is made ...of a apricot yellow color silk damask weave fabric with a woven peony floral pattern and colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered peony flower vase roundels medallions with butterflies and the endless knot. There are blue silk damask weave fabric sleeve band cuffs with a woven swastika design which is the Chinese character for longevity and colorful hand embroidered figures. This lovely long surcoat style robe is loose fitting, with long full flared wide sleeves, black silk blue embroidered gold couching trim edging, collar, side vents, black silk knotted toggle closures down the front and is fully lined in a yellow silk damask weave fabric with a woven swastika design which is the Chinese character for longevity inside. The robe measures 40 inches long, with a 48 inch chest, 48 inch waist and 48 inch hips. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of Chinese wearable art!
