This antique Chinese blue silk colorful embroidered long robe peacock sleeve band cuffs dates from the 1920s. It is made of a bright blue silk crepe fabric with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work objects of the Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune and a variety of... flowers. There are white silk fabric sleeve band cuffs with a colorful finely embroidered peacocks, butterflies and flowers outlined in gold thread couching work. This beautiful blue long surcoat style robe is loose fitting, with long full flared wide sleeves, black silk blue embroidered butterfly flower trim edging, collar, side vents, black silk knotted toggle closures down the front and is fully lined in a blue silk fabric. The robe measures 36 inches long, with a 46 inch chest, 46 inch waist and 46 inch hips. It is in good as-is condition, with several frayed rips on the inside silk lining, some slight faint fade discoloration in areas and a few tiny pin holes on one shoulder (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of Chinese wearable art!
