A highly decorative group of three Villeroy & Boch Mettlach pottery vases, c. 1900, including two 'Phanolith' cameo vases and a beaker vase, c. 1890/1900 Description:On offer is this group of three earthenware vases made by Villeroy & Boch / Mettlach and dating to the eind of the 19th century, showing wonderful details. This auction includes a pair of matching vases and a single vase.The pair of 'Phanolith' vases are decorated on both sides with cameo panels in moulded whi...te on blue, showing patterns of dancing putti. Both vases have handles, ending in grotesque masks. On the underside, the vases bear the impressed marks of the Villeroy & Boch / Mettlach factory, as used from 1887 onwards. They also have a pattern #: 2431. These vases are standing an impressive 31 centimeters (well over 1 foot) high.Both vases are in very attractive condition, with minor traces of age, but without serious damages. Both upper sides of the rims appear to have some old touched-up spots or glaze irregularities, not detracting from the wonderful appearance of this pair, and needing to be mentioned for accuracy. Please view the pictures.The single beaker shaped vase is marked alike and is in perfect condition. It stands 20, 7 cm (c. 8, 25 inches) high. The pattern # is 3418These objects are superb examples of Mettlach potter's craftsmanship and will make a wonderful addition to any collection of Villeroy & Boch art pottery.
