Up for auction is a fine early faience glaze scenic painted pewter mounted tankard. This Tankard is a fine and authentic 18th century example. This tankard is one of two period examples being offered in this week’s estate sale. The tankard is dated 1781 to the top lid and is of the period. The tankard has a nice figural painted landscape scene all around the tankard. The tankard is a nice large size example measuring 9 1/2 inches tall to the pewter finial, by 6 inches long, and 4 inches wide. The tankard shows minor imperfections and wear mainly to the back handle consistent with its very old age. The tankard is otherwise in substantially good estate-fresh condition with no cracks, and no repairs. A great old example.
